About the GRRRLZ Rock Festival
GRRRLZ Rock is a month-long festival every November that celebrates the contribution and growth of women in the arts. GRRRLZ Rock provides resources and performance opportunities to female musicians and artists by creating supportive environments in which they can be celebrated for their creative talents and express themselves freely. We are all inclusive and all ages, so join us in our mission to increase gender diversity in the arts! Since 2006, thousands of performers and artists of all ages and from all genres have been represented by the festival’s numerous events. Hundreds of businesses have benefited from highly visible and affordable sponsorship packages including print advertising, website links, social media, unique promotional products, radio and television coverage, interviews and on-site event opportunities. GRRRLZ Rock events have encouraged and inspired performers and artists from all over the nation and is 100% inclusive to all non-binary and female supportive acts. About the GRRRLZ ROCK Logo
The GRRRLZ ROCK logo was inspired by the work of Angela Davis. Her inspiring words led our founder, Matrisha Armitage, to dedicate her life to making change in our community and the world beyond. As a female performer who started in the industry at a young age, Matrisha could not accept the way that youth and women were being treated in the performing arts environments. Fueled by this frustration, Matrisha started changing the landscape to create safe spaces for women and youth to share their talents and express themselves freely. Through this work MEPAA connects with diverse artists and performers from a variety of cultural backgrounds, genders, economic levels, and abilities to give them safe spaces to became active members of the arts community, free from judgement, criticism, and traditional barriers to participation. |
