About the GRRRLZ ROCK Logo
The GRRRLZ ROCK logo was inspired by the work of Angela Davis. Her inspiring words led our founder, Matrisha Armitage, to dedicate her life to making change in our community and the world beyond.

As a female performer who started in the industry at a young age, Matrisha could not accept the way that youth and women were being treated in the performing arts environments. Fueled by this frustration, Matrisha started changing the landscape to create safe spaces for women and youth to share their talents and express themselves freely.

Through this work MEPAA connects with diverse artists and performers from a variety of cultural backgrounds, genders, economic levels, and abilities to give them safe spaces to became active members of the arts community, free from judgement, criticism, and traditional barriers to participation.
